Courtney Burke and Mitchell Ramos lived just one mile from each other most of their childhoods, though they didn’t meet until they were teenagers. The high-school sweethearts dated for a decade before becoming engaged in 2018.

When it was time to scout wedding venues, the New Yorkers decided to travel further afield. Courtney always dreamed of getting married in the South, and as soon as she and Mitch pulled into Montage Palmetto Bluff for the first time, they knew they had found the right place. Not only did they trust the Montage name after annual skiing trips to Deer Valley, Utah, but they also had no doubts their guests would enjoy the entire weekend on a property with so much to offer.

Courtney wanted the celebration to evoke the feeling of a romantic and elegant garden. Pulling inspiration from her and her mother’s collection of Chinoiserie porcelain, the classic blue-and-white motif carried throughout the wedding details, from the florals to the tablecloths to the keepsake monogrammed napkins. The pièce de résistance, however, was the custom art piece behind the main bar, which elevated the design to something akin to a high-end hotel. To complete the vision, bartenders donned white dinner jackets, while a vase overflowing with white orchids — another personal favorite of the bride and her mother — brought a piece of home to the luxe Lowcountry fête.

“Funfetti is my absolute favorite cake flavor and I’ve had my mom make me one every year for my birthday. Because my 28th birthday was the day before our wedding, I thought what better cake to have than Funfetti as my wedding cake?” — Courtney Burke, BRIDE
