Amanda Jones and Brian Walker knew they were a match when they showed up to a birthday party wearing the same North Face fleece. A few years later, Brian surprised Amanda with a Fourth of July proposal at Driftwood Beach on Jekyll Island.
They chose to tie the knot under an oak tree at the Savannah Yacht Club, thus their RSVP cards and programs featured an original line drawing of the same tree, sketched by Amanda’s mother.
“I knew that I wanted something classic,” Amanda says of their wedding. “But during the planning process, I realized I also wanted to have a little creative twist on things to keep the more traditional elements from being boring.”
She decided on black bridesmaids dresses, accentuated by bright bouquets, and a guestbook table displayed photos of the bride and groom’s parents and grandparents on their own wedding days.
Try to surround yourself with supportive people. I was lucky that my sister, my maid of honor, was willing to put so much effort into helping me, even when the tasks weren’t glamorous, like blocking off hotel rooms. – Amanda Jones
